Women In Leadership Round Table #3

Presenting The Academy podcast, a program within the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV with a mission to improve the lives of all those associated with the school through education, information, and some cool stories.

It is our pleasure to share with you the third and final episode of our Women in Leadership roundtable series moderated by Kristin Steffen-Zonsius, former Senior Director of Faculty Affairs at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV. The idea for this series was born from the desire to continue to expand upon the conversation that started at the school of medicine’s Women in Medicine (WIM) Female Leadership panel. Together, the round table guests offer richness and diversity in experience and perspectives. Tune in as they discuss their personal journeys, moments of grit and resilience, and what it means to be a leader in their personal lives and professional careers.

In this episode of the Women in Leadership series, our guests are Dr. Deborah Kuhls, professor of surgery and Assistant Dean of Research, and Dr. Elissa Palmer, professor and chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Kuhls and Dr. Palmer not only discuss gender bias and the importance of women supporting women, but also share with us their personal stories and their “aha” moments in making life decisions. Tune in to get to know these two dynamic physicians on a deeper level.
